About the Role:

As the Resident Medical Officer, your duties may include: 

  • Providing appropriate clinical care to patients, supervise interns and medical students.
  • Assisting in assessment and management of surgical patients admitted via emergency department.
  • Being rostered on-call anywhere between 3-5 on calls per month.
  • Participating in and be involved in a variety of elective and emergency surgical cases.

About you:

To be successful in this role, you will need: 

  • A Bachelor of Medicine; Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) or equivalent
  • To be registrable with the Medical Board of Australia as a Medical Practitioner
  • Completed an internship training or relevant medical training to commence as a Surgical RMO
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of people.
  • Must hold a general registration with a professional body in Australia. 

As per the SMOEA 2022, the total term of employment with SA Health will be 3 years. Rotations following the initial 12-month allocation as Resident Medical Officer will be determined in line with your training and SA Health’s requirements. This may include transfer to other SA Health locations to perform work appropriate to classification, skills, and capabilities.
