About the role  

We are currently recruiting a Zone Substation Electrical Technician, to join our Underground Mains team. This role can be based from Orange or any other Central NSW location.

The Zone Substation Electrical Technician is responsible for construction and maintenance of Zone Substations, inspecting, testing, and reporting the nature and condition of network asset and the installation commissioning and testing of associated Zone Substation and distribution equipment. 

 

Key responsibilities

  • Construction and Maintenance of Zone Substations and Underground Infrastructure.
  • Installation, commissioning and testing of associated Zone Substation and distribution equipment
  • Carrying out switching operations associated with both high and low voltage Engineering Services
  • Inspecting, testing, and reporting nature and condition of Network assets to maintain quality standards 
  • Accessing and using computerised systems to operate remote equipment 
  • Be available and participate in emergency after hours duties
  • Operating plant and equipment associated with Zone Substations in a safe manner.

 

About You

As a Zone Substation Electrical Technician, you will be able to demonstrate practical application of the qualification for this role.  This position is suitable for a qualified Electrician with High Voltage Cable Jointing experience, ideally at a Sub-transmission level.

 

Required Qualifications/Skills

  • Trade qualified Electrician with a current electrical licence 
  • Driver’s licence 
  • WorkCover NSW Construction Induction Certificate  
  • Ability to work effectively within a team environment 
  • Basic skills in computer operations
  • Sound communication and interpersonal skills to be able to communicate electronically in writing and liaise with stakeholders and customers in an amicable manner.
  • Willingness to travel and work away from home 

Desirable

  • VLF Testing and diagnostic assessment of High Voltage Cables.
  • 11Kv, 22kV, 33kV, Cable jointing experience in polymeric XLPE cables.
  • Accreditation in Cable terminations at Sub-transmission voltages 66kV or above.
  • Diploma in ESI Power Systems.
  • EWP and Portable Scaffolding Licences
  • Plant excavator and Bobcat licences
