Job Overview


The Warehouse & Sales Associate is responsible for utilising their knowledge and expertise in building materials to boost sales and increase repeat purchases through suggestive selling, positive approach, shared product knowledge, strong sales acumen, and customer engagement.


Key Responsibilities


  • Operate β€œPoint of Sale” system to accurately and completely record transactions..
  • Provide helpful service to satisfy customer's enquiries, make sales and take orders for delivery, both in Department and by telephone.
  • Suggest add on Sales (suggestive selling) and contribute ideas to increase store or department sales.
  • Process and follow up quotes on a daily basis, to qualify, refine and close sales opportunities and enter details into the quote register AND FrameWorks.
  • Negotiate individual items (products, prices etc) on each quote, in order to close sales opportunities.
  • Complete and check all paperwork correctly, ensuring procedures are followed as instructed.
  • Manage stock levels and liaising with suppliers as directed by local manager.
  • Maintain the tidiness of the work area and/or showroom presentation as required or directed.
  • Ensure safe storage of stock, as required.
  • Acquire and maintain up-date knowledge of old and new product and stock levels.
  • Attend organised industry related trade nights for product training.
  • Undertake self-directed learning through TradeNet for relevant products.
  • Maintain security over merchandise and monies from theft and damage.
  • Report all damage to, breakage of and loss of stock to local manager or supervisor.
  • Adhere to safe work practices.
  • Co-operate with other departments in the preparation of orders, including delivery of product.
  • Follow all reasonable directions given by the teamlead or local manager, and adhere to company policies and procedures to your best ability.
  • Undertake self-assessment on personal safety to adhere to assigned lifting requirements.


Key Requirements


  • Ability to establish priorities and accomplish multiple tasks with minimal supervision;
  • Team player;
  • Experience with building materials desirable, but not essential;
  • Able to lift/move heavy materials (up to 25kg) on occasion;
  • Minimum of one year experience in a sales/warehouse/yard positions desirable, but not essential;
  • Forklift experience highly desired;
  • Ability to read, write and perform basic math functions.
