The Salvation Army Youth Services offer an integrated suite of programs engaging with young people across Australia. Our services create intentional avenues for young people to explore opportunities, build support networks, and access, participate and contribute to their communities. Youth services provide a diverse range of programs which include housing and homelessness, driver training, education, employment, and training, AOD support, social and community activities, specialist therapeutic responses and youth justice programs.

About this role

We are seeking a values-driven Teacher who will teach and educate students to their educational needs and abilities, maximising their attainment potential for success beyond formal schooling. Achieved by working effectively within a multi-disciplinary team and in accordance with guidelines provided by the Queensland Curriculum and Assessment Authority. Further to this is the responsibility of developing, planning, reporting and delivery of effective learning methods and teaching programs for enrolled students.

You will successfully

  • Planning, preparing and delivering programs to all students in the class to facilitate learning;
  • Teaching according to the educational needs, abilities and achievement of the individual students and groups of students (using data collected and/or observed);
  • Reflecting on best practice, both in delivery and assessment/feedback, to ensure continued improvement of the programs offered and student outcomes;
  • Incorporating trauma informed practices when working with young people;
  • Using the relevant syllabus and assessment documentation to plan and deliver a cross disciplinary course to a combined/multi-aged audience of young people;
  • Adopting and working towards the implementation of the school operational plan;

You will have

  • Current full registration or current provisional registration with eligibility for full registration, as a teacher in Queensland.
  • TAE 40116 Certificate IV in Assessment and Training to deliver Nationally Accredited Vocational Certificates
  •  Experience with Special Assistance Schools, that provide alternative educational settings for students with high-level needs and students who are at risk, have behavioural difficulties, or whose needs are better met by flexible learning structures.
  • Queensland College of Teachers Registration – current

This is a permanent, part-time (22.8hrs per week) position located in Riverview, QLD. Salary and conditions are in accordance with the Education Services Teacher Award.
