About the Role: 

As a valued Hospitality, Tourism & Events TAFE Teacher, you will be delivering units as part of the innovative block model, specialising in Commercial Cookery within Hospitality, Tourism & Events. This is a role on a casual basis until December 2024. The work will involve developing learning resources for the hospitality courses, as well as training and assessing students, and maintaining accurate records on site. 

You will be teaching across our Certificate II in Cookery program delivered to our VETDSS (VET Delivered to Secondary Schools) cohorts as well as the potential opportunity to deliver the Certificate III in Commercial Cookery part time cohorts with delivery undertaken on Saturdays at the Nicholson Street campus. The role also encompasses the development of resources for our hospitality, tourism, and events courses.

An example of your responsibilities or duties you may perform will include:

  • Facilitate learning and establish educational and assessment strategies to suit a range of student, client needs and industry contexts. This includes delivery on-line, blended and in diverse settings including within enterprises and the community.
  • Establish and maintain a positive learning environment and undertake assessment of student performance in accordance with the requirements of the relevant curriculum / training package.
  • Undertake a range of administrative, coordination and learn services activities directly related to the areas taught including recognition of prior learning, enrolments and submission of results

Salary and Conditions of Employment:

  • For sessional teaching roles, the hourly rate payable is $86.90 per hour inclusive of 25% loading plus superannuation.
  • Conditions of employment will be covered by Victoria University's Vocational Teacher Enterprise Agreement 2019

About You:

The successful candidate must have: 

  • A minimum Certificate III in Commercial Cookery or Certificate IV in Kitchen Management up to an Advanced Diploma of Hospitality Management or higher qualification.
  • A completed TAE40116 / TAE40122 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment; or TAE40110 with required upskill units TAEASS502 and TAELLN411 or TAELLN401A
  • A valid E Class (employee) Working with Children Check
  • Preferably 5 to 8 years of industry experience
  • Great communication skills and the ability to teach diverse group of students
