As part of the School of Veterinary Science which is ranked #1 in the Southern Hemisphere, the Wildlife Health and Conservation Hospital work closely with rescue and rehabilitation groups, the public, and general veterinary practices whilst providing a clinical learning experience for veterinary students.

In the Staff Veterinarian - Wildlife position, you will provide best-practice veterinary care to first-opinion and referred clients of the Wildlife Hospital which provides medical and surgical care to over 700 wildlife cases per year. The position is responsible for sole-charge of the WHCH on weekends, therefore prior experience working with wildlife in a clinical setting is essential.

Your key responsibilities will be to:

  • provide high quality first and second opinion veterinary care for wildlife attending the service including consultations, surgery and medical treatment appropriate to the presenting needs on weekends

  • provide support and direction for the undergraduate interns/DVM students

  • ensure effective billing practices in the Wildlife Hospital

About you

  • experience working with wildlife rehabilitation, native animal care

  • a degree in veterinary science registrable in NSW (or equivalent)

  • experience working in a busy service-oriented environment

  • sound diagnostic and therapeutic clinical skills in medicine and surgery

  • the ability to work independently and within a team environment

  • excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • the desire to provide best-practice principals in provision of veterinary services

  • a valid full drivers licence and vehicle.
