THE COMPANY

Goterra is a Canberra based Ag-tech start-up company building sustainable solutions to the critical global challenges of food waste and climate change. At our headquarters in Hume, we design and build modular robotic infrastructure (MIB) that uses insects to turn food waste into protein and fertilizer. We are a diverse, multidisciplinary team that work collaboratively to help solve some one of the biggest threats to our climate.

We’re a fast-moving company with a strong focus on results and customer experience. We’re looking for competent individuals to join our team to build our ground-breaking insect farming processes and procedures.

  • Collecting and preserving samples of organic (food) waste, insects and resulting substrate produced in MIBS for laboratory analysis.
  • Conducting experimental biological cycles in the units to evaluate new components, designs and biological parameters through quality control measurements of production outcomes.
  • Data gathering, record keeping and evaluation of biological services in MIBS to generate reports and charts for the different departments.
  • Working with technicians, operators, engineers and management to identify and implement trials and improvements for the MIBS design.
  • Adjusting and calibrating the equipment (pumps, feeding manifold, environmental setpoints, scales, etc) to provide precise conditions for the insects in the units.
  • Determining the density of insect neonates to be used in the MIBS through sampling and calculations to maximize organic waste consumption.
  • Supporting the development and implementation of processes, procedures and protocols for the safe and effective operations of Goterra’s waste management systems in accordance with relevant legislation and codes.
