Opportunity

Normet is currently seeking experienced Workshop Service Technicians / Mechanics to join our supportive and friendly team in Sydney. As Workshop Service Technician, you will play a vital role in commissioning, servicing, and repairing Normets underground machines.

To shine in this position, you will need 

  • Certificate III Fitter or equivalent (Mechanical/Diesel/Marine/Transport/Agricultural) with a minimum of 3 years industry experience
  • Available to work between 48 - 55 hours per week
  • Experience in modification and repairs of heavy mobile equipment
  • Strong mechanical / electrical knowledge, experience, and aptitude
  • Ability to read CAD engineer drawings, hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical schematics
  • High level of problem solving and diagnostic skills
  • Full working rights in Australia is essential in order to be considered for these positions.

The successful candidate must be able to successfully complete a pre-employment medical and obtain a National Police Clearance before commencement. 

Responsibilities

Conducting commissioning, servicing and repairs of Normets and Clients underground machines:

  • Modification and/or repair of vehicle systems including: chassis’, drivelines, engines, transmissions, hydraulics, pneumatics and electrics
  • Manufacturing and fitting of electrical and mechanical components
  • Testing and adjusting of all mechanical hydraulics, circuits and pneumatic components
  • Fault finding, repairing, replacing, and providing technical advice
  • Cutting, grinding, drilling, welding, manufacturing of small components and fitting them to machines
  • Inspection, analysis and recording critical mechanical information during the process of undertaking mechanical refurbishment work
  • All work to be performed safely and at a level of quality acceptable to both Normet and customer expectation.
