YOUR ROLE AT LUNA

We are looking for a Senior Tax Accountant for our High Growth Startup Team who is responsible for providing high-quality client delivery work, all while hitting quarterly revenue targets and output points. You will also focus on winning new clients, as well as coaching, mentoring and developing coachees.

Your work will be split between providing timely tax compliance services for the team and other LUNA clients and being a valuable client manager for existing Accounting clients in a business services capacity.

Here's a closer look at this exciting role:

Client Delivery Work: Provide high-quality end-to-end accounting support, with a focus on tax compliance (approximately 60% compliance, 40% business advisory) for all Luna clients. This includes:

  • Annual financial reporting and tax compliance for companies (and occasionally their founders and family trusts).
  • Ad-hoc Tax Projects for clients could include:
  • Designing tax-efficient employee share schemes.
  • Advising on restructures, capital raises, and business sales with the support of external contractors
  • Working closely with the High Growth lawyers to provide tax input on legal matters
  • Providing recurring business services support for Accounting clients on recurring financial operations
  • Implementing improvements across Accounting bookkeeping clients to ensure simplified and efficient tax compliance at year end.

Process Improvements: Work with the VP Accounting (VP-A) to improve our recurring processes from the ground-up across the team's accounting clients to ensure compliant and timely tax reporting.

Product & Pricing: Regularly provide input and recommendations to VP-A on the team's accounting product offering, including products that deepen relationships

between both accounting and legal arms.

Hit Targets: Hit individual quarterly revenue targets and output points as set out by the Head of High Growth Startups.

BAS: Oversee and manage process for how BAS are lodged and reviewed for the team.

Income Tax: Oversee and manage process for how income tax returns are lodged and reviewed for the team.

Team Performance & Culture

Hiring: Assist in interviewing and technically vetting Accounting headcount as needed, per Headcount Plan.

Mentoring: Mentor Coaches. Provide Coaches with professional growth opportunities.

THE SKILLS YOU BRING

You should apply if you:

  • Have more than 5 years of experience in a tax accounting, business services or accounting environment.
  • Are a registered tax agent or the ability to become a registered tax agent within 12 months.
  • Have experience providing a mix of business advisory services (e.g. financial statement preparation, accounting standard interpretation, financial modelling, financial operations, etc).
  • Have experience preparing, lodging and reviewing BAS, IAS, FBT, ITR and Payroll Tax
  • Are very familiar with Xero, including payroll and reporting features.
  • Are organised and with a proven ability to manage multiple clients at a time.
  • Are based in Melbourne, or Sydney.
  • Are eligible to work in Australia.

It would be an added bonus if you have any of the following in your toolkit:

  • Have worked with G-suite and Google products, Hubspot, Dext, Asana and Slack.
  • Have experience advising across a suite of startup needs.
  • Business development and /or sales experience.
  • You have experience working with financial reporting software like Fathom or Syft.
  • You have experience collaborating with lawyers to deliver outcomes for clients.
  • Characteristics and qualities that demonstrate team member would thrive at Luna or on your specific team.
  • You demonstrate a high work EQ and the capability to manage and lead teams or business units.
  • You are an impactful coach and mentor
  • Highly knowledgeable on the VC ecosystem with an established network in the startup ecosystem.
  • The ability to lead and balance many tasks and projects.
