The Opportunity

We are hiring a Senior Analyst to join our Tax Advisory team.


The Senior Analyst, Tax Advisory will be involved in reviewing and benchmarking proposed investment structures for tax efficiency and compliance transparency to ensure that the Fund manages foreign tax leakage and protects its sovereign immunity entitlements, whilst also seeking to minimise any adverse impact on the Fund’s reputation. In this regard, the role will include monitoring global tax developments that may impact the Fund and providing general tax advice to the business as required.  The Senior Analyst, Tax Advisory will work closely with the Investment team, Legal team and with external advisors as appropriate.

The position would suit someone who has 4 - 8 years experience in an internal tax-advisory or tax-consulting function.

Key Responsibilities


You will play a crucial role in ensuring the successful completion of tax due diligence on proposed investment structures across all asset classes. Your responsibilities will include managing foreign tax leakage, conducting tax reputational risk assessments, and incorporating tax risk mitigation protections in legal documents. Additionally, you will review external advice when required to ensure comprehensive and accurate tax due diligence.


In this role, you will become a trusted advisor on taxation sovereign immunity principles, monitoring and providing input on global tax developments relevant to the Fund. You will assist with tax governance and process improvements, ensuring that tax risk controls and processes are appropriately complied with and managed. Your expertise will help the Agency stay ahead of global tax changes and maintain robust tax governance frameworks.


You will also be responsible for ensuring that tax structures comply with local and Australian taxation laws.. Your work will ensure that the organisation’s tax structures are both compliant and strategically sound.


Finally, you will have the opportunity to be involved in various tax-related projects, providing strategic input, and ensuring that all projects are completed efficiently and effectively. Your project management skills will be essential in driving the success of the tax advisory function within the Agency.

About You

Candidates should have an industry-relevant tertiary qualification in commerce, law, or business. A chartered accounting certification will be highly regarded. The ideal candidate will have experience in a taxation service line or a corporate tax department, with a strong understanding of tax aspects related to global private market transactions, including fund investments, co-investments, joint ventures, and M&A transactions. Exposure to inbound US corporate tax and other international jurisdictions, such as the European Union or the UK, will be advantageous. Additionally, familiarity with areas relevant to sovereign wealth funds, including sovereign immunity and Base Erosion Profit Shifting (BEPS) issues, will be well regarded.
