The Resthaven Graduate Nurse Program known as the Transition to Professional Practice Program (TPPP) is a unique leadership training opportunity for Registered Nurses who have a passion for providing services to older people and a desire to become leaders in the aged care sector. The TPPP is a way to develop specific knowledge and skills required to work in aged care.  This is a structured program with integrated study days and a designated mentor to assist the graduate nurse to practice in a safe and supportive environment as a confident and accountable professional.

We are excited to be seeking applications for the 2025 program, commencing on Monday 17th of February 2025 at various locations across metropolitan and regional South Australia.

Program Aim

To prepare recently Registered Nurse graduates for their critical role in the specialist field of Aged Care through providing structured learning, mentoring and experience that will facilitate the transition of knowledge to practice.

About the Program

The Resthaven TPPP has been designed to support newly graduated registered nurses to develop into confident professionals who can demonstrate competence in undertaking the work of an autonomous health care worker with appropriate support structures.

  • Commence Monday 17th of February 2025
  • 1-2 week induction process
  • Mentoring and coaching from clinical leaders
  • Scheduled attendance at education sessions

What We Are Looking For

We are seeking energetic, enthusiastic, approachable and attentive Registered Nurse graduates who are willing to challenge themselves and do their daily best.  The ideal candidate will have:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Passion and commitment for supporting the needs of older people
  • Commitment to professional development
  • Received their AHPRA registration before February 2025

Selection Process

  • Applications are welcome from graduates who received their unrestricted AHPRA registration before February 2025.
  • Shortlisting for interview will be based on your letter of application briefly introducing yourself, the Resthaven site you currently work at and your reasons for applying for the Graduate Nurse Program.  You will also provide a one-page (maximum) response to the following questions:
  1. Why apply for a graduate program in aged care?
  2. What does ‘Trust Dignity Choice’ mean to you?
  3. Who is someone you consider to be an outstanding leader?  Considering that leader, what 3 traits make them a good leader?
  4. What do the words ‘resilience’ and ‘leadership’ mean to you?
  5. What do you think is the biggest challenge facing aged care?
