Your Position at St John of God Geelong Hospital

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Scrub Scout Nurse to join our dynamic surgical team. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of surgical procedures by providing essential support to surgeons and other medical professionals in the operating theatre.

The Position

  • Prepare and maintain a sterile environment in the operating room.

  • Assist surgeons during procedures by providing instruments and supplies.

  • Ensure all surgical instruments and equipment are sterilized and functioning properly.

  • Monitor and manage the sterile field to prevent contamination.

  • Coordinate with the surgical team to ensure patient safety and optimal outcomes.

  • Document and maintain accurate records of surgical procedures and inventory.

  • Demonstrates knowledge of/and functions in accordance with legislation and common law affecting nursing practice and acknowledges accountability/responsibility for own actions.

  • Ensures Infection Management policies and procedures are available to all staff and adhered to and implemented

  • Communicate effectively with all customers and patients using the appropriate channels, utilising appropriate formal and informal channels of communication.

You will have current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (AHPRA) as a Registered Nurse and have recent clinical experience as a Scrub Scout Registered Nurse.

To succeed you will highly developed interpersonal and communication skills, ability to identify and solve problems, with a demonstrated commitment to quality patient care and patient satisfaction.

The Benefits:

  • Salary $42.30 per hr to $59.75 per hour (includes causal loading) + 11% superannuation
