THE OUTDOORS, NATURE, BEING PART OF A GREAT TEAM.

These are all the things our staff love to do in their spare time. And the good thing is that this is exactly what they do for a job!

You don’t need any experience, but you do need to be willing to get in and have a go. You do need to love the water! Our days are spent out on boats looking after our oysters. That means we get warm, sunny days and we get wild, wet and cold days.

Tasmanian Oyster Company (TOC for short) is looking for farmhands to join the team. We currently have vacancies at our Little Swanport Farm.

Experience or knowledge in aquaculture, specifically oyster farming, is highly desirable as this position has the potential to quickly grow and develop into a leadership role.

In the first 1-3 months, you will:

  • Complete the TOC onboarding process, including our safety induction, get to know your work mates and their roles within our business
  • Learn our company vision and values and what drives our successes
  • Get in and have a go – learn the tasks and ask lots of questions
  • Shadow our team leaders and experienced farmhands to get an understanding of your work
  • Check in with our People and Safety team to ensure you have everything you need to succeed

In 3-6 months, you will:

  • Demonstrate an understanding of the tasks at hand, our systems and procedures
  • Work cooperatively with others and use your initiative to find tasks to do
  • Attend further training or be signed up to Certificate III in Aquaculture
  • Understand our values and consciously work to them

After 6 months, you will:

  • Be able to work more autonomously and pro-actively
  • Be completing a Certificate III in Aquaculture, obtaining tickets like forklift and coxswains
  • Learn more about TOC's structure and opportunities for your career in the future

We’re deeply committed to the wellbeing of our employees, and we offer many resources to help you be successful at work and at home. We encourage applications from people from a diverse range of backgrounds.

You must have full time work rights in Australia, be willing to accept a permanent role, and be ready to undertake a full medical including drug and alcohol screening.

So, if you have what it takes to be a great team-player and are looking for something better in your life, apply now!
