Why this role matters

The Salvation Army is one of Australia’s largest providers of alcohol and other drug services. We offer a range of services including Harm Reduction and Primary Health Services as well as a range of treatment types (including residential treatment centres, community-based support programs, counselling, and withdrawal management services).

The Geelong Withdrawal Unit provides a residential medicated withdrawal service for those who are seeking to recover from alcohol and other drugs issues. Clients reside in the Unit during their episode of care and are provided with all meals and facilities.

About the role

We are seeking a values-driven and proactive Nurse Team Leader to provide leadership, support, and supervision to the Nursing Team at the Geelong Withdrawal Unit.

Reporting to the AOD Manager, this is a permanent, full-time position based in Corio,Victoria.

You will successfully

  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to ensure medical needs of clients are met in a timely manner.

  • Deliver professional, evidence based and holistic care to all clients engaging with the Geelong Withdrawal Unit.

  • Supervise and conduct performance appraisals for team members.

  • Assist with recruiting, selecting and inducting staff to the unit.

  • Manage on-line programs.

  • Update and amend Policy and Procedures for the Unit relevant to the current service delivery.

  • Provide partnership with the AOD Program Coordinator and teams.

You will have

  • AOD/MH Nursing – demonstrated experience in AOD withdrawal management and Mental Health knowledge.

  • Experience managing teams in a healthcare setting.

  • Skills in management of challenging behaviours.

  • DIV 1 RN with current APHRA registration.

  • A current paid Victorian Working with Children Check.

  • Current Victorian Driver Licence.
