Introduction

As a result of continuous company growth, GPA is seeking applications for a Mechanical  Engineer with 5+ years of relevant pipeline experience to join our Adelaide team.

GPA Engineering is a highly experienced, multidisciplinary engineering and management firm delivering engineering, procurement and construction management services for over 35 years. We develop, engineer and implement industrial scale projects across the oil & gas, defence, water treatment & distribution, mining & minerals, power generation & distribution, renewable energy and hydrogen sectors. With a commitment to providing quality assurance and maintaining environmental integrity, our people are highly qualified and additionally possess expertise to advise on project and risk management.

GPA have a long history of delivering a broad range of onshore pipeline projects including long distance natural gas pipelines, upstream Oil & Gas gathering systems, and hydrogen pipelines both new and the conversion of existing assets. The successful applicant will be part of a team of pipeline industry experts, who in addition to delivering complex pipeline projects, are heavily involved in the revision of Australian pipeline standards, industry research projects through the FFCRC, and as lead authors on industry guidance documents like the Hydrogen Pipelines Code of Practice.

Skills And Experiences

Essential Skills / Qualifications

  • Australian recognised Engineering degree
  • Technical Competencies
    • Familiar with codes and standards related to pipeline engineering including AS/NZS 2885
    • Experience in the design of pipelines to AS/NZS 2885 and associated facilities (such as delivery, compression and metering/regulation stations) for natural gas or other mediums (experience in Hydrogen, CO2 and Ammonia considered favourably)
    • Experience working in a multi-discipline engineering team through various project phases; concept studies, FEED and Detailed Engineering
    • Preparation and review of detailed pipeline calculations and reports
    • Preparation and review of pipeline documentation including specifications and datasheets
    • Experience in SMS reporting
  • Industry Experience
    • Long distance pipelines
    • Pipelines in metro and high consequence areas
    • Oil & Gas gathering systems (upstream & downstream)
  • General
    • Passion for quality engineering and client outcomes
    • Strong client consultancy experience
    • Effective communicator
    • Attention to detail without losing sight of the bigger picture
    • Taking responsibility and ownership of tasks
    • Ability to work closely with client teams and independently as required
    • Time, budget and priority management

 

Desirable Skills / Qualifications

    • Chartered status (and RPEQ/RPEV)
    • Knowledge of cathodic protection systems and experience overseeing electrical interference studies and cathodic protection design by others
    • Hydrogen/CO2/Ammonia industry experience
    • SMS facilitation
    • Cost estimating and proposal development

    • Construction & commissioning support experience
