The Role

Based in Orbost on the beautiful coastline of the Gippsland region, we are seeking to engage an Mechanical Operator Maintainer. The Orbost based plant processes natural gas extracted from our offshore Sole gas field. The Plant connects to the Eastern Gas Pipeline, which transports gas into the New South Wales or Victoria markets.

Working a 7:7 roster, the Mechanical Operator Maintainer will work as part of an experienced team to support our Orbost Plant.

Reporting to the Team Leader, your main duties will include:

  • Operate and monitor Orbost Gas Processing facilities, pipeline systems and any associated plant in accordance with procedures to meet KPI’s and contractual obligations
  • Plan, organise and perform routine and unscheduled maintenance of gas processing facilities, pipeline systems and any associated plant
  • Undertake technical analysis and evaluations on plant performance diagnosing solutions to reoccurring problems, recommending modifications and improvements on plant performance to avoid plant failure
  • Provide effective documentation for programmed and corrective maintenance programs
  • Develop and maintain effective, supportive, and reliable communication and professional working relationships with field and office-based colleagues
  • Manage the on-site Permit to Work System in accordance with Cooper Energy procedures
  • Represent Cooper Energy in the local community


Skills And Experiences

About You

Essential to the role is Mechanical trade qualifications and significant operator experience in heavy industry, preferably in oil and gas.
Experience working with Major Hazard Facility regulations is highly regarded.

To be considered you will require the below skills and attributes:

  • Mechanical trade qualifications and/or relevant heavy industry experience - ESSENTIAL
  • Operator experience - ESSENTIAL
  • Knowledge of Gas Processing Systems
  • Knowledge of pressures, flows and distribution cause and effect, and basic instrumentation an advantage
  • Ability to troubleshoot and problem solve Mechanical plant issues
  • Good computer literacy skills
  • Able to work in a team environment
  • Ability to live local and commit to shift work

 

Relocation support will be provided for those currently not residing in the region.
