They are WA’s largest container and general cargo port, comprising of two harbours that are responsible for providing a range of reliable and competitive port related services and facilities.

Job Description

We are currently seeking a qualified Mechanical Fitter to join our Client's team in Kwinana for a fixed term period, where you will be required to provide shift relief coverage, where required, and will be allocated day shift hours if shift coverage is not required.

Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, the successful applicant will:

  • Maintain consistently high levels of safety awareness, task risk assessment and procedural compliance;
  • Provide mechanical shift coverage as required, including breakdown maintenance on operating equipment;
  • Complete programmed inspections of mechanical equipment and machinery to assess condition for safe and reliable operation;
  • Use rigging skills and experience to carry out safe and efficient wire & grab changes;
  • Perform breakdown repairs as required to maximise the continuity of the operations and assess the requirement for outside assistance as required;
  • Provide operational support services to the Bulk Operations area (to the level of competence and training);
  • Ensure high levels of operational availability of equipment is maintained;
  • Participate in ongoing training to ensure adequate skills to provide all services for which the team is responsible; and
  • Other duties as required.

Qualifications

Applicants must possess:

  • A relevant mechanical qualification;
  • Dogging and Rigging qualifications and experience;
  • Experience within a heavy industry environment;
  • Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety principles;
  • Willingness to work shift roster; Current ‘C’ or ‘CA’ class drivers licence;

Applicants with previous experience working on Hydraulic and Pneumatic systems are highly desirable.

Additional Information

  • $114,167 - $117,225 per annum plus 9.25% Superannuation;
  • Salary dependent on qualifications and experience;
  • Fixed-term Contract until 13 February 2016;
