About the role




The Estimator must be able to work independently but also as part of a team on a mixed variety of bids ranging in value. The Estimator must demonstrate the ability to optimise bid costs, implement value engineering, and ensure value for money whilst achieving and delivering the highest standards, quality and win mechanical projects in ACT including asssiting interstate divisions whereever necessary.





  • Review, analyse and critique tender documents.

  • Evaluate quotations sourced from suppliers and sub-contractors.

  • Closely liaise with suppliers and subcontractors.

  • Daily use of computerised estimating software – Trimble ContractMaster.

  • Develop, maintain, and enhance material cost/labour databases.

  • Accurate and efficient data entry skills.

  • Carry out ductwork, pipework, and associated component takeoffs using Trimble LiveCount to ascertain anticipated material and installation costs.

  • Complete returnable schedules and tender supporting documentation as required for bid submissions.

  • Work collaboratively within the estimating team to present completed cost estimates to management in a timely manner and in an organized, structured standard format.

  • Develop, maintain, and grow strong relationships with suppliers, subcontractors, consultants, clients and colleagues.

  • Time management to meet important deadlines.

Skills and experience


To be successful in this role you will have previous experience in estimating, quantity surveying or construction and will have extensive experience within the mechanical services industry. With an engaging communication style and an ability to build rapport and credibility with clients, colleagues, and contractors. Opportunities for advancement exist, depending on your aspirations.
