Position Summary:

We are seeking highly motivated Full-Time Intermediate Accountants to join our team based at our head office in the West Perth office.

As a valued team member, you'll collaborate closely with the Manager and colleagues to achieve exceptional client outcomes. Your primary responsibilities include preparing financial statements, tax returns, and BAS accurately and promptly. Ensuring prompt and professional responses to client inquiries while meeting ATO deadlines is essential. You'll work collaboratively with team members and other departments at AAG to ensure seamless workflow efficiency. Strong communication skills are imperative for interpreting and addressing client inquiries effectively.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Accurately prepare intricate tax and business compliance documents, including financial statements and tax returns for clients such as companies, trusts, and self-managed superannuation funds (SMSFs).
  • Conduct thorough reviews of BAS returns, GST reconciliations, Capital Gains Tax calculations, and FBT returns, providing assistance and advice to clients as needed.
  • Ensure adherence to AAG processes and maintain high-quality standards when reviewing individual tax returns, financial statements, and business tax returns.
  • Oversee and review the work of interns and graduate accountants, preparing it for presentation to the Senior Accountant and/or Manager.
  • Minimize rework by following AAG processes diligently, clarifying and resolving queries and concerns promptly, and understanding client needs.
  • Conduct research on tax matters as required to provide accurate and informed advice to clients.
  • Support graduate and junior accountants by addressing their queries and escalating issues to the Senior Accountant when necessary.
  • Efficiently organize workflow and work within allocated job budgets to ensure timely completion of tasks.
  • Utilize electronic accounting systems like Xero, MYOB, Quickbooks, DEXT, BGL, and Futrli proficiently to process work effectively.
  • Engage in regular training to enhance technical taxation knowledge and occasionally provide training to other team members.
  • Proactively evaluate our systems, providing recommendations for enhancements and updates to optimize efficiency.
  • Foster and nurture positive relationships with internal colleagues and external stakeholders.
  • Fulfill any additional activities, tasks, or duties as assigned by management.
  • Collaborate with the Client Care team as needed to address client requirements and concerns promptly.
  • Review queries and MFYA lists from Junior and Graduate team members to mitigate confusion, crafting timely and suitable responses to potential client inquiries as needed.
  • Demonstrate problem-solving skills by identifying obstacles and offering viable solutions to overcome them effectively.

Position Competencies:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting is mandatory.
  • CPA/CA Australia qualification or in the process of obtaining it.
  • 3-5 years of experience in Business Services within an Australian Public Practice.
  • Thorough understanding of current tax laws and statutory regulations.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in work.
  • Proficient time management skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Proven ability to meet deadlines set by AAG, clients, and ATO.
  • Result-oriented mindset with a strong focus on teamwork.
  • Proficient in logical thinking, problem-solving, and possessing sound mathematical skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with other AAG departments to resolve issues and ensure client satisfaction.
  • Capable of independently completing tasks when required.
  • Proficiency in non-accounting systems such as Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), Apple Mail, and Daylite.
  • Exemplifies trustworthiness, honesty, and maintains confidentiality at all times.
  • Completion of Knowledgeshop Intermediate training course.
  • Aptitude in preparing returns and workpapers to reduce review time, with an average of 45 minutes per review (15 minutes for individual tasks).
