RAC Karri Valley Resort is located in the beautiful Southwest region of WA, approximately 3.5 hours' drive from Perth and just a short drive from Pemberton town centre. Located on the edge of Lake Beedelup, the resort offers a range of accommodation to suit all travellers, including stunning lakeside rooms, forest chalets, and campsites.

We are currently looking for an experienced Grounds & Maintenance Manager to join our team on a full-time basis and contribute to providing our RAC members and guests with high-quality resort accommodation and services.

This role would be ideal for a local or someone looking to relocate from Perth - accommodation is available at a reduced cost allowing the right candidate to live and work on-site.

What will you be doing?

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing a team of employees who maintain the gardens, facilities and plant to ensure the overall presentation of the Resort grounds are to a high standard.

In this role you will:

  • Advise Resort Management on grounds and maintenance plans and assist with garden and maintenance budgeting.
  • Develop and maintain gardens at the property.
  • Ensure grounds are presented to the highest standard in accordance with Resort guidelines.
  • Assist the team with gardening tasks, maintenance and repair works to the accommodation, assets and property.
  • Service and maintain equipment such as lawnmowers, tools and equipment, repair vehicles and / or engines.
  • Attend to all matters ensuring grounds and facilities meet the Workplace Health and Safety legislation and health and safety procedures are followed.
  • Carry out specialised maintenance works in accordance with the Resort facilities, including of the power station, wastewater treatment plan and water plant.
  • Arrange and supervise contractors undertaking maintenance on the property.
  • Attend to guest requests and escalate to Resort Manager where appropriate.
  • Undertake management of the team including recruitment, training, time and attendance and performance management ensuring procedures are followed.
  • Work with the Resort Management team to improve and introduce efficient ways of working.
  • Ensure all records and documentation are completed and retained as required.
  • Liaise with other departments such as housekeeping and reception to ensure all tasks are completed in a timely manner for members and guests and assist with communication to members and guests.
  • Order, receipt, store and control equipment and chemicals within the budget parameters set.
  • Liaise with suppliers and ensure invoices are processed in accordance with the procedure.
  • Conduct fleet management of vehicles and machinery on the property.
  • Ensure safe storage of chemicals, hazardous materials and combustible products.

What are we looking for in you?

  • Certificate III in Horticulture OR Certificate III in Caravan Park Operations OR equivalent trade qualification (mechanical, electrical, etc).
  • Current HR / Manual Driver's License.
  • Senior First Aid Certificate.
  • Ability to obtain a National Police Clearance.
  • Considerable experience in a similar role with proven experience in maintenance of machinery and gardens.
  • Good knowledge of regulatory requirements impacting on garden and maintenance operations as well as how to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Ability to build and manage a team that apply their diverse skills and perspectives to achieve common goals.
  • Ability to organise and manage multi-task varied priorities and ability to complete all allotted tasks within an appropriate time frame.
  • Ability to work in a dynamic environment and communicate effectively.
  • Ability to use computer systems.
  • Availability to meet operational working hours of a 7-day week rotating roster, including weekends and public holidays and reasonable overtime.
  • Be able to respond to out of hours call outs, as required.
  • Be able to work indoors and outdoors in a variety of weather conditions.
  • Be able to perform manual work including walking, bending, lifting, reaching, and repetitive movements.
  • Be open to possible transfer of location, as required to meet operational needs.
