Responsibilities

Reporting to the Functional Manager in within EIC based in Perth, with dual line to the Engineering Manager in Brisbane. You will join an Australia wide team that is based in Perth & Brisbane. Our teams work collaboratively across a diverse range of engineering packages from conceptual studies through to EPCM delivery for local & international developments.

Wood is proud to be awarded an initial three-year term contract by Newmont, the world’s largest gold mining firm. Based in Brisbane, Queensland, you will support the capital works program for the Lihir gold mine in Papua New Guinea.  Working in a key engineering service contract, the focus of your role will be an integral role in our team, bringing your knowledge insight and passion for delivering quality and efficiency for our clients developments will be to create delivery excellence across the assigned project portfolio, provide certainty and confidence to the client and maintain robust control of project scope, schedule, cost and risk
 

In this role, you will be supporting delivery of engineering. As part of this role, key accountabilities will include: 

  • Detailed layout, design and production of drawings encompassing all aspects of a project design and/or construction package in accordance with relevant standards and project requirements. 
  • Provision of Inter-discipline liaison, support and timely transfer of information working collaboratively to engineering scope deliverables, 
  • Review and processing of vendor data and drawings 
  • Assist in checking of study and project drawings, alongside development of estimates.
  • Develop understanding of relevant engineering and HSES procedures and standards, championing a commitment to safety in all aspects. 
  • Be proactive in building a team environment, aligning to Wood vision and values

Qualifications

This opportunity is looking for those who are interested in building their engineering careers in resources sector, ready to take on their next challenge working with global leading large-scale projects & portfolio engineering support for sustaining capital work programs.   

You will have: 

  • Currently or developing towards Diploma in engineering Design or current trainee/junior designer within an engineering consultancy
  • Well-developed computer skills and knowledge of databases, spreadsheets and engineering programs 
  • Understanding of Australian and common international standards and regulatory authority requirements in the relevant processing sector 
  • Prior exposure to working with industry standard software (Autocad/Microstation/Open Plant) across 2d and 3d design. Modelling exposure is an additional benefit not essential.
  • Passionate about career development & growth, displaying ability to work in an agile & dynamic environment
  • A commitment to upholding and driving HSE standards personally and professionally.
  • An understanding and exposure to Australian & international standards and regulatory authority requirements
