The Service

Located just a short distance away from Corrimal Beach, KU Corrimal East Preschool operates during NSW preschool term time between 8:00am and 3:30pm and provides a fantastic play based program for up to 25 children.

The service have a strong relationship with The University of Wollongong and the Early Start Research Institute, and are an ‘Early Start Engagement Centre’, which means they engage in research that will influence and improve the quality of early childhood education and care.

Their specialisation is around sustainability and children are encouraged to learn about the world around them.

The Role 

We are looking for an experience and enthusiastic qualified early childhood teacher that will work alongside the Director to support the team to achieve the best outcomes for children. 

This is a permanent position working 2 days per week (7.6 hours per day, Thursday and Friday) for the remainder of 2024. On Thursdays you will provide admin relief to the director and on Friday you will be in the Teacher in Charge in the absence of the director, you will receive an allowance on this day. This role is likely to increase to 3 days in 2025 making the role Wednesday-Friday.

The service align with the practice of Marte Meo, so knowledge  experience will be beneficial as well as of 'Circle of Security', 'Attachment Theory' and ‘play spaces’ practices.

Give the service’s connection to The University of Wollongong, the ideal candidate would be willing to participate in pedagogical research and practice partnerships with Universities and academic researchers.

Of course, you will need:

  • Relevant experience  
  • An ACCEQA recognised Early Childhood Teaching degree,
  • Current First Aid and CPR certificates 
  • Asthma and Anaphylaxis Management certificates 
  • Active NESA Teacher Accreditation,
  • Completed training in Child Protection legislation and its implications for the care and protection of children,
  • Current Working with Children Check
  • Sound understanding of the Education and Care Services National Law (2010) and the Education and Care Services National Regulations (2011)
