EMPLOYMENT TYPE:

THE POSITION:
To ensure that the AlburyCity's Early Years Education and Care Centre operates in an efficient and effective manner, whilst providing a safe, nurturing and stimulating learning environment for all children attending Banjora.



Responsibilities

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop and implement programs which meet the developmental, cultural and individual needs of all children attending the Centre.
  • Be actively involved with children as individuals and as a group, assisting them to cope with daily routines and to develop their basic skills.
  • Complete children's required education and care documentation and record attendance details of children.
  • Uphold the regulations as determined by the relevant State and Federal Departments.
  • Be involved with the National Quality Standard (NQS) process
  • Report on all maintenance and equipment needs and replacements.
  • Follow housekeeping practices which ensures that equipment is maintained at an optimal level.
  • Be responsible for cleaning in relation to the group.
  • Ensure that all staff are informed of hygiene, health and safety practices and standards, and monitor the implementation of such standards in the day to day care of the children.
  • Perform other tasks or duties as directed by the Supervisor which are within the limits of the employee's skill, competence and training.
  • Observe requirements of the WHS Legislation, relevant to the job and adhere to AlburyCity Policies and Procedures regarding WHS.

EMPLOYMENT CONDITIONS:

  • Based on a 35 hour week, working a minimum of 25 hours per week with actual days and times being worked in accordance with facility roster. The roster covers a span of hours from 6.30am to 6.00pm.
  • Additional hours up to 35 hours per week may be worked by agreement, and this will be paid at the ordinary rate of pay
  • On occasions there will be a requirement to attend meetings and events outside of normal business hours.
  • This position has the opportunity to carry out the role of an Educational Leader on a rotational basis. 
  • This position may require the employee to be nominated as the "Responsible Person" for the service in the absence of the Service Coordinator.
  • This position involves working both indoor and outdoor, along with computer work. The position requires a moderate level of aerobic and physical fitness to undertake regular physical activities such as walking, lifting, pulling, pushing along with the capacity to maintain normal manual handling tasks across the work day - depending on the nature of the tasks undertaken. Appropriate WHS standards will be applied for all manual handing activity. A full functional and medical assessment is required for this position. 
  • This position requires evidence of vaccination against the following infectious diseases: 
    • Hepatitis A
    • Pertussis (Whooping Cough)
    • Measles, Mumps & Rubella (MMR)
    • Varicella (Chicken Pox)
  • This position requires you to wear a compulsory uniform as per AlburyCity’s Our People Dress Code Standards. Our People are required to present a smart and professional image to the public at all times including when in public and when working remotely
  • This position requires evidence of a current NSW Working with Children's Clearance
  • This position requires a NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA) Early Childhood Teacher Accreditation.
  • This position is subject to alcohol and other drug testing. 
  • This position is located at Banjora Children's Centre, Cardo Drive, Springdale Heights with occasional visits to external sites/depots and AlburyCity Administration Building as required   

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA: 

  • Bachelor in Early Childhood Education or relevant discipline 
  • Hold NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA) Early Childhood Teacher accreditation 
  • NSW Working with Children Clearance
  • Current First Aid Certificate (compulsory to have and maintain) 
  • Current Accredited Emergency Asthma Management Training (compulsory to have and maintain) 
  • Current Accredited Anaphylaxis Management Training (compulsory to have and maintain) 

DESIRABLE CRITERIA: 

  • Class C (standard) Driver's Licence 
  • Child Protection Training - CHCP - Identify and respond to children and young people at risk

EXPERIENCE 

  • Relevant experience as an Early Childhood Teacher in a long day child centre. 
  • Experience in supporting and working in a multi-disciplinary child care team.

SPECIALIST KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS: 

  • Working and demonstrated knowledge of the Early Years learning Framework (EYLF) 
  • Strong knowledge of child development and experience in the application of that knowledge in the implementation of programs and routines 
  • Working knowledge and understanding of the National Quality Framework and National Quality Standard 
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the day to day care of the children; including hygiene and health and safety practices and standards 
  • Strong understanding and knowledge of record keeping and administrative procedures required in a Long Day Care Centre
