Data Center Critical Facilities Engineer (Mechanical/Controls)

Are you ready to be part of a high performing  Data Center team? As a Critical Facilities Engineer at Equinix, you'll be at the forefront of cutting-edge technology, responsible for supervising and performing facilities engineering work. From alarm response to fault finding, maintenance, and repairs, you'll be the go-to expert for mechanical and controls systems, and build expertise in electrical, fire, and security systems.

The team works across all engineering disciplines and applicants should be possess a strong mechanical and/or controls background, but have the capacity and willingness to upskill themselves across all relevant systems and equipment.

The team coordinate and direct skilled vendors, ensuring maintenance activities meet the highest standards. Your expertise will be crucial in creating and submitting maintenance scripts, while tracking the work approval process for service providers. Together with vendors, you'll update technical files for plants and equipment, keeping everything running smoothly.

Site administration and incident support will be part of your daily adventure. You'll dive into site logs, gather data for permits, and identify Single Points of Failure (SPOFs). When on-site incidents occur, you'll be there to respond, conduct Root Cause Analysis (RCA), and support the on-site staff. Your commitment to following processes and procedures will ensure a safe and efficient environment.

Collaboration is key in this role. You'll work closely with cross-functional teams to resolve challenging facility incidents, sharing your expertise and learning from others. As a mentor, you'll guide team members in skilled maintenance activities, while keeping stakeholders informed of inventory needs.

Qualifications, skills and experience

- Certificate III/IV in Electrical - Instrumentation or equivalent experience

- Certificate III in Engineering - Mechanical Trade (Refrigerant & Air Conditioning)

- Bachelor's degree in engineering - Mechanical, Controls

- Knowledge of critical infrastructure equipment such as UPS, ATS, STS, Generators, CRAH, Chillers, BMS, PLC, etc.

-  Positive attitude and commitment to teamwork is key to success in the role

- Past datacenter or facility engineering experience is desirable

- Basic to intermediate computer skills, including Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, and CAD

- Excellent written and spoken interpersonal communication skills, proficient in English
