We are seeking applications for a Clinical Nurse Specialist to join our Surgical Ward team on a permanent full-time basis.

Working as a Clinical Nurse, you will provide the necessary quality nursing care and supervise Graduate and/or Registered Nurses to ensure planned nursing interventions are appropriate and implemented.  The activities of the Clinical Nurse Specialist will ensure that the patient is a recipient of high quality nursing care in accordance with the Mission, Philosophy and Values of St John of God Health Care.

The Position

  • In collaboration with the Nurse Unit Manager, ensures that clinical activities reflect current issues, trends and research.

  • Assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of patient’s needs, nursing interventions and patient responses to treatment.

  • Ability to act as a role model for clinical excellence in the delivery of patient care.

  • Ability to initiate appropriate intervention in response to accurate interpretation on the changing health status of patients.

  • Participation in the development / review of relevant department clinical policies & procedures.

  • Support the NUM in ensuring the department clinical management plan is implemented.

You will have demonstrated clinical knowledge and skills relevant to ICU, effective communication & documentation skills, ability to work flexibly within a team and able to prioritise workloads.

Successful applicants will have current registration as a Registered Nurse with the Nursing & Midwifery Board of Australia.
