Our Registered Nurses are responsible for coordinating the delivery of safe, effective and individualised care to clients.

Why this role matters

The Salvation Army is one of Australia’s largest providers of alcohol and other drug services. We offer a range of services including Harm Reduction and Primary Health Services as well as a range of treatment types (including residential treatment centres, community-based support programs, counselling, and withdrawal management services).

The Geelong Withdrawal Unit provides a residential medicated withdrawal service for those who are seeking to recover from alcohol and other drugs issues. Clients reside in the Unit during their episode of care and are provided with all meals and facilities.

About the role

We are seeking a values-driven and proactive Registered Nurse to provide nursing support and care for clients of the Geelong Withdrawal Unit and support clients seeking to recover from addiction.

Reporting to the Nurse Team Leader, this is a casual position based in Corio,Victoria.

You will successfully

  • Ensure that clients are welcomed into the program, feel listened to, and are actively involved in their recovery.

  • Address clients immediate medical needs.

  • Carry out clinical observations and ensure results are accurately reported.

  • Liaise with Police, Ambulance and other professionals to ensure the safe care of clients.

  • Identify any risks to clients, staff and The Salvation Army and report risks and incidents to the Nursing Coordinator.

You will have

  • A degree or equivalent in Nursing and a current Div 1 certificate.

  • A Cert IV in Alcohol and Other Drugs Competencies CHCAOD 2C, 6B, 8C, 9C AND 10A.

  • AHPRA Registered.

  • A Victorian Employee Working with Children check.

  • Experience in the AOD sector service delivery and skills in managing challenging behaviours.
