About the role

Expressions of interest are sought from experienced registered nurses working across Mater Health Brisbane with relevant experience in Neuropathic and Reconstructive Urology conditions and treatment pathways to join the Urology team in a full-time permanent capacity in a Clinical Nurse Specialist role.

The Urology neuropathic and reconstruction nurse has exceptional experience in Urology nursing, demonstrating the ability to work within a multidisciplinary team providing support and clinical leadership across Mater Health Brisbane.

Salary range: $61.67 - $69.22 per hour plus 11.5% superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900  + access to many staff benefits! 

What you’ll be doing

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Providing specialty-specific support and resources to staff and patients diagnosed with neuropathic and reconstructive conditions throughout the continuum of care
  • Providing an ongoing point of contact for patients diagnosed with these conditions throughout their care
  • Work within the Multidisciplinary Team to ensure consistent patient outcomes between the various streams 
  • Provide high-quality patient care, reliable information and education for patients and their families
  • Liaise with scheduler/s to ensure appropriate timing procedure/surgery dates of patients who are deemed ready for care
  • Coordinating care throughout the patient journey ensuring access to services and appropriate follow-up in place
  • Establishes priorities for resolution of identified health needs in consultation with the patient or group of patients
  • Acts as a patient advocate ensuring patients are informed and consent is gained prior to treatment, assisting/negotiating sensitively with patients where there may be barriers to understanding

About you

To be considered for this role, you will have:

  • High levels of communication skills when liaising with patients, families and staff within professional, legal and ethical parameters
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with other members of the multi-disciplinary team in the delivery of optimal patient outcomes
  • Current registration with AHPRA as a registered nurse (no restrictions)
  • At least 3 years surgical/urological nursing experience   
  • Demonstrated clinical leadership skills
  • Exceptional organisational and problem solving skills
  • Demonstrated commitment to professional development of yourself and staff members
  • Ability to contribute to departmental research activities
