Job Description:
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Theatre Scrub Nurse to join our dynamic healthcare team. As a Theatre Scrub Nurse, you will play a critical role in providing high-quality perioperative care. Your primary responsibility will be to assist the surgical team in maintaining a sterile environment and ensuring the efficient and safe execution of surgical procedures.
Key Responsibilities:

Assist with Surgical Procedures: Prepare and maintain the sterile field and ensure all necessary equipment and instruments are available before and during the procedure.

Prepare the Operating Room: Set up and sterilise operating room equipment, instruments, and supplies in accordance with established protocols and infection control practices.

Maintain Sterility: Vigilantly monitor and maintain sterile conditions throughout the surgical procedure, ensuring compliance with safety and hygiene standards.

Collaborate with the Surgical Team: Work closely with surgeons and other healthcare professionals to ensure effective communication and efficient workflow during surgeries.

Manage Surgical Instruments: Handle and manage surgical instruments and supplies with precision, ensuring they are ready and in optimal condition for use.

Monitor Patient Safety: Assist in positioning and prepping patients for surgery, ensuring their safety and comfort throughout the procedure.

Documentation: Accurately document surgical procedures, instrument counts, and any incidents or irregularities.

Adhere to Protocols: Follow hospital policies, protocols, and safety guidelines to ensure the highest standard of care.
Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor's degree in nursing.

Licensure: Current registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) as a Registered Nurse.

Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in theatre scrub nursing or similar surgical settings.

Certification: Certification in perioperative nursing is highly desirable.

Vaccinations: Up-to-date with annual flu and COVID-19 vaccinations.
