Paraway’s Urawilkie Station has an excellent opportunity for a person seeking to grow their livestock career in a challenging and rewarding environment within a progressive Australian agricultural company.

We are seeking expressions of interest for a Senior Station Hand to join the Urawilkie team.

This position presents an exciting opportunity to join a progressive and well-resourced organisation that is committed to the success of its people, the care of the land we manage, and the welfare of our animals.

Covering 16,389 ha on the Western plains in the Central Western region of NSW, Urawilkie is located 35km east of Coonamble and is an aggregation of a number of properties resulting in a variety of soils.  The property has a mix of soils from chocolate/red loams with some lighter soils mainly towards the north-east.The property has approximately 5,897 ha of developed dryland cultivation country, 3,977 ha of pasture improved grazing and 6,515 ha of dryland grazing and support country. Urawilkie’ s livestock enterprise consists of 1,600 Angus breeders and trades 6,000 steers opportunistically. Dryland cultivation country is utilized for fodder crop production, whilst the heavier black loam country for cereal production.

The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate a sound knowledge of and genuine interest in:

  • Animal husbandry practices
  • Awareness of environment and sustainability practices
  • Proficiency in general station infrastructure maintenance
  • Machinery operation and maintenance

We are looking for applicants with:

  • Good attitude towards teamwork and working alone
  • Punctual
  • Willing to listen and learn
  • Own working dog/s, not essential but desirable

This position is a live on station role, with accommodation and utilities provided for family, couple, or single applicants with a short 12kms drive to meet the school bus to local schools.
