About Us:

Bidgerdii Community Health Service is an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community controlled primary health care service, operating in the Rockhampton and Central Queensland region for close to 30 years. The organisation is a bulk billing community-controlled health service, managed by a Board of Directors who oversee and manage the strategic directions of the service.

Bidgerdii provides comprehensive primary health and well-being services to the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community in the Rockhampton and surrounding regions. Bidgerdii collaborates with health and well-being partner agencies to enable integrated continuity of care for the community and continue to work to contribute to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health policy and program reform in Queensland.

About the Role:

This Position is located at High Street and forms part of the Clinic team which is responsible for providing day to day oversight and ensuring smooth functioning of clinic operations and delivering clinical care in line with the IUIH model as a member of the multidisciplinary clinic team.

About You:

You a compassionate, optimistic individual wanting to make a difference in peoples lives especially our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community and also have the following:

  • A current Queensland Nursing Registration with AHPRA as a Registered Nurse and a current practicing certificate.
  • Demonstrated experience of 5 years postgraduate, preferably in a primary health care setting.
  • Immunisation Endorsement and experience (highly desired)
  • Demonstrated clinic experience, in particular the ability to implement and support a medical/primary health care team and effectively plan, and coordinate own and teams workload to achieve results;
  • Demonstrated compliance with legal and ethical obligations of the profession, including maintenance of CPD compliance.
  • Ability to work sensitively and effectively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, with commitment to the philosophy and practice of Aboriginal Community Control.
  • Demonstrated skill in working in a primary care setting, in particular the ability to provide leadership as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Demonstrated effective verbal and written skills with particular emphasis on interpersonal communication skills, confidentiality and record keeping. Computer Skills – Demonstrated ability to work effectively with Microsoft suite, electronic client record systems, Best Practice, Medical Director and or Prac Soft;

Practical Requirements:

  • Immunisation requirements – It is a condition of employment for this role for the employee to be, and remain, vaccinated against the following vaccine preventable diseases: Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B, Hepatitis A and Pertussis (whooping cough) during their employment.
  • Current CPR and First Aid Certificate.
  • Current Blue Card (Working with Children and young people) or willingness to apply for a Blue Card
  • Current C Class Drivers Licence (QLD) – essential.
  • Satisfactory Police Criminal History Check.
