ABOUT THE ROLE

With a total of 3400 hectares across two sites, Mort & Co Farms is looking to employ a Farm Hand in our down to earth close-knit team.  With a strong focus on open communication and comradery, every member contributes to the high performance of the farm operations and typical duties include:

  • Planting of irrigated and dryland summer and winter crops
  • Cultivating, fertilising, spraying and harvesting
  • Transporting, handling, storing, preparing and applying chemicals
  • Use of GPS Guidance and carrying out precision ag operations, including setting up of guidance line for task, importing and loading Precision Ag tools (files, scripts, data management).
  • Checking and reporting on effectiveness of irrigation systems
  • Performing grain harvest operations
  • Calibrating equipment, performing troubleshooting, and undertaking general maintenance and repairs on equipment

 

ABOUT YOU

To be successful in this role you will have substantial experience in farming roles particularly in irrigation and cropping with a desire to continue growing your farming career. You will also bring

  • relevant experience in the setup and intermittent maintenance of equipment such as air seeder and precision planters.
  • Ability to use John Deere GPS Guidance and Precision Ag tools (download files, scripts, data management)
  • Ability to build effective relationships with the team and with key stakeholders and demonstrated communication, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work autonomously and independently
  • ‘C’ class Licence mandatory. ‘HR’ class Licence desirable.
  • Preference to hold a Chemical Handling Certificate, or willingness to obtain
