The Role

A great opportunity is available for Physiotherapists to join our dedicated Community Health Team in providing comprehensive and integrated Physiotherapy services, appropriate to the needs of the local community.

As a rural generalist physiotherapist, you will have the opportunity to provide rural based services in both hospital and community settings and will work with clinically and culturally diverse caseloads across the adult lifespan. Please note, this role does not provide services to children. 

Opportunities include: 

  • Working as part of a dynamic multi-disciplinary team to provide services to consumers in community, inpatient and aged care settings 
  • Increase breadth of clinical knowledge in a rural generalist role 
  • Assess and treat consumers with a range of clinical presentations, including but not limited to musculoskeletal, orthopaedic, cardiorespiratory, neurological, palliative care, amputee rehabilitation and falls prevention 
  • Service the local community across a variety of programs including NDIS, Home Care Packages, Commonwealth Home Support Program, and Transitional Care Packages. 
  • Provide goal-based therapy and restorative care to assist consumers to regain function and independence, including exercise and equipment prescription and education
  • Facilitation of group rehabilitation classes such as strength and balance, cardiac and pulmonary rehabilitation, and hydrotherapy.
  • Partner with clinical specialists on-site or via telehealth services to deliver therapy for those with complex needs  
  • Travel and provide Physiotherapy services to outreach regional hospitals and community sites within the local health network  
  • Work with clients in specialised areas such as burns therapy, lymphoedema, and hand therapy.

Port Pirie has the largest case-mix funded health service in the YNLHN and provides outreach to 8 regional sites including Port Broughton, Crystal Brook, Gladstone, Jamestown, Laura, Booleroo, Orroroo and Peterborough (max 1.5hrs drive from Pirie).  

Allied health services are based at Port Pirie GP Plus, which has fit for purpose clinical areas, group rooms and resources.
