The opportunity:

The main purpose of this position is to be a resource to clients for all compounding-related needs. The role will involve providing support to clients on technical and formulation queries and providing direction, advice and continuing education in order to assist pharmacists with either introducing or expanding the practice of compounding in their business.

Key Role Responsibilities:

  • Develop/Review Formulas
    • Assist in development of formulations as per client requests
    • Verify chemical compatibilities, mathematical calculations and therapeutics pertaining to formulation
    • Apply safety, legal/regulatory issues and procedures pertaining to formulations
  • Respond to Customer Inquiries
    • Provide support to customers with compounding related questions
  • Sales Team Support
    • Actively support to the sales team in selling all products and services of Medisca Australia to secure further business
    • Become the expert on equipment, devices and Medisca bases to support the sales team in their role
  • Technical Writing
    • Must be able to interpret and translate formulation worksheets Must be able to compile researched literature 
    • Collaborate/assist with the development of pharmacist educational initiatives and pharmacy student internships
  • Quality System
    • Keep current on all standards of practice and regulations governing the practice of pharmaceutical compounding
    • Assist in the development of SOPs, Policies & Procedures related to formulation development and approval
    • Participate in continuous quality improvement of formulation database
  • Facilitate compounding training activities given to pharmacists & pharmacy technicians
    • Assist in the development and facilitation of programs (Continuing Professional Development training activities)
    • Answer questions relating to past pharmacy experience
    • Continuously improve and redesign activities based on advances in practice & technology
  • Additional Responsibilities
    • Provide technical training to department on new advances in the industry
    • Contribute to editorial content, communications and e-content
    • Liaise with professional organizations and government agencies
    • Other duties may be called upon

Travel: Up to two (2) weeks per year to attend courses/training sessions.

 

About You:

  • Experience in the pharmaceutical compounding industry (Ideally 1 year + experience in a Compounding Pharmacy lab)
  • Experience in a lab setting (i.e.; Compounding, Research & Development)
  • AHPRA Registered Pharmacist or Bachelor’s degree in a Life Sciences/Medical Sciences related discipline required (Will consider candidates that are in the process of obtaining registration)
  • Knowledge of APC and RACGP criteria for CPD development
  • Excellent communication skills; fluent English (oral & written) required
  • Strong work ethic and judgment, empathy and discretion in his/her work
  • Excellent time management, planning and organizational skills
  • Advanced interpersonal skills and the ability to maintain a professional and positive image
  • Results oriented and takes initiative with the ability to learn and adapt quickly
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint) required.
