Introduction

Royal Far West provides family centred care in a trauma informed model of practice, working with children and families from rural and remote area of NSW, including children in Out of Home Care and other vulnerable groups that do not have access to specialist paediatric services. 



Description

This opportunity is offered on a part time contract working 48 per fortnight Monday-Thursday.

The purpose of this role is to support the efficient, smooth running of the Paediatric Developmental Clinic at RFW. The position is responsible for undertaking child & family health nursing assessments, paediatric nursing assessments, the management of medications, supporting clients and their families, supporting Medication Safety and contributing to Quality Improvement.



Skills And Experiences

YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE ARE 

  • Current unrestricted registration as a Registered Nurse (Division 1) within the Australian Health Practitioner Agency (AHPRA)
  • Post graduate Qualification in Paediatric Nursing 
  • Minimum 3 years relevant experience working within a community health setting providing developmental paediatric, disability, Paediatric Nursing.
  • Experience with common paediatric pharmacology
  • Demonstrated clinical knowledge, skill, and clinical experience in the provision of paediatric nursing and paediatric development, including working with children with intellectual disability, Autism Spectrum Disorders, ADHD, ODD and children with significant behavioural difficulties.
  • Experience working in a clinic environment, undertaking comprehensive Paediatric/ paediatric nursing assessments supporting the smooth and efficient running of a specialist medical clinic.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including negotiation, advocacy, conflict resolution, and an ability to work collaboratively with a range of stakeholders and families from culturally diverse backgrounds. 
  • Experience working with children and families with complex psychosocial and mental health needs, including those children living in out of home care and those that have experienced trauma.
