About the role:
 

Come join our dynamic team of Nurse Educators in the Nursing Education & Development Centre at St Vincent's Hospital Sydney. We are a small team of six Nurse Educators who work closely with the Nurse Managers, NUM’s and CNE’s on the wards.

 

You will be responsible for looking after the post graduate course in Mental Health including promoting, recruiting and educating and evaluation the course. You are the resource person for the nurses who are enrolled, the go to person for everyone.  Participation in formal processes for the strategic and operational planning for the clinical service is expected including developing and maintaining key internal and external relationships with stakeholders.

 

You are responsible for assessment, development, implementation and evaluation of Mental Health education programs to ensure they meet the needs of staff working within clinical areas. The role will ensure evidence-based practice principles have been utilised in the development of mental health curriculum, programs, policies and procedures within the clinical environment and broader organisation.

 

At times you might be redirected to assist and collaborate with other programs as directed by the Nurse Manager for Education and also will receive that support in return.

About you:

 

You could be a skilled, energetic Registered Nurse or Clinical Nurse Educator who is passionate about person-centred mental health care and nursing education.

 

You have extensive experience in developing, delivering, and evaluating education programs and a desire to teach at a postgraduate level.  A natural born connector with the ability to nurture with focus.  An eye on continuous improvement and an investment in achieving the best in class.

Selection Criteria:

1. Personal integrity and demonstrated commitment to the Philosophy, Mission and Values of Mary Aikenhead Ministries
2. Currently registered as a Registered Nurse (Division 1) with the Australian Health Professional Regulation Agency
3. Relevant post-graduate education qualifications or relevant post- graduate clinical qualifications with a Cert IV in Training and Assessment (or working towards)
4. Demonstrated ability to develop, implement and evaluate education programs
5. Demonstrated knowledge of innovative educational strategies, tools and approaches including e-learning
6. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within the interdisciplinary team and demonstrated effective communication and interpersonal skills
7. Demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional development and demonstrated computer literacy with email and an electronic patient record system
8. Demonstrated evidence of integration of theoretical knowledge and clinical skills, critical thinking and analysis in their daily practice as a nurse educator
