The New Acland Coal Mine (NAC), a thin seam open cut mining operation is owned and managed by New Hope Group. NAC is based 35km north-west of Toowoomba and plays a key role in the Darling Downs region as an employer and economic contributor since it began operation in October 2002.

About the role:

As NAC continues to progress, we are inviting expressions of interest for an experienced Shift Maintenance Supervisor to join the Mobile Maintenance Team on a permanent, full-time basis.  Working a 7/7 day / night rotating roster and reporting to the Senior Maintenance Supervisor, the Shift Maintenance Supervisor plays a pivotal role in overseeing all maintenance activities during shift and ensuring that all equipment and machinery are operating efficiently and safely.  

What you will do:

  • Lead by example and coordinate all maintenance tasks during your shift, including routine maintenance, inspections and breakdown repairs
  • Reducing equipment downtime by ensuring all maintenance activities are planned, manned and carried out to a high standard, in a safe and timely manner
  • Ensure the workplace cleanliness is always kept to a high standard 
  • Comply with New Hope Group’s Health, Safety and Environmental procedures at all times

To be considered for these opportunities you will bring:

  • Mechanical Trade Qualifications within the Mechanical Engineering fields
  • Proven experience as a Maintenance Supervisor or in a similar role within the mining or heavy industry sector
  • Proven ability to build and maintain strong working relationships and effective, high performing teams
  • Current coal board medical and Standard 11 Induction (Or willing to obtain)
  • Experience with Caterpillar, Hitachi and Letourneau machines
  • Queensland driver’s licence (manual)
  • Experience with computer-based maintenance systems (desirable)

  • High attention to detail and precision in executing tasks
  • Ability to work well as a team and independently
  • Ability to undergo and pass a coal board medical
  • Ability to work a rotating 7/7 day / night roster including weekends and night shift
  • The ability to lead and contribute to the team in a fast-paced environment
