Due to our ongoing growth, we are seeking an experienced Mechanical Project Engineer to join the Saunders International team. The role will be based at Altona, Victoria.

The Mechanical Project Engineer is responsible and accountable for the following:

  • Assist in developing scopes of work for execution estimating and delivery.
  • Managing budgets and schedules for small to medium multi-discipline projects at a Major Hazard Facility
  • Assist in the stewardship of site safety KPI’s
  • Keep Project Manager updated with all site issues.
  • Provide detailed reporting as required by Project Manager.
  • Participate in site technical, scheduling, systems and safety problems.
  • Assist the Company to comply with all applicable legislation at all times.
  • Ensuring all work is carried out using approved JLA’s or SWMS’s.
  • Provide client and PM liaison on technical, deliverables and site issues.
  • Accountability for maintaining quality records on the project.
  • Liaise with site subcontractors.
  • Liaise with client’s site personnel and attend meetings to support project.
  • Conduct site safety audits and contribute to the site safety KPI’s
  • Ensure all drawings and supplied relied upon information are maintained, up to date and distributed to project team.
  • Assist field staff with reading and understanding the construction drawings and compliance requirements.
  • Liaise with PM, drawing and engineering office to resolve technical issues.
  • Ensure all field staff are supplied with the correct tools and equipment to ensure a productive, compliance and safe execution of the works.
  • Assist the company wherever possible to ensure the overall health, safety and welfare of all Saunders International Personnel, Contractors, or visitors within the Entity.
  • Ensure all work practices are carried out in as safe a manner as possible and always complies with all applicable legislation and Saunders International’s Occupational Health Safety and Environmental (OHS&E) policies / procedures.
  • Insist that all services delivered to clients always meet the strict quality standards set by the Company.

ABOUT YOU

Essential       

  • Tertiary qualification in an engineering discipline
  • Willing to be stationed on projects anywhere within Australia.
  • Enthusiasm for the role and commitment to continual improvement and growth of the business
  • Innovative thinking and approach to commercial and technical aspects of project delivery
  • Strong interpersonal skills and leadership skills.
  • Good organizational skills.
  • Able to communicate effectively at all levels of the organizational.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Desirable      

  • Experience in construction projects strongly preferred.
  • Experience with reputable local contractors working on civil construction projects ranging in value.
