The Opportunity

Our Port Kembla Manufacturing facility is looking for a Mechanical Fitter in our Metal Coating Lines (MCL) team based in Port Kembla. As a part of the broader Australian Steel Products portfolio, we have six major manufacturing sites at Port Kembla that deliver a variety of products, innovative solutions and services to our export and domestic customers.

Working on our Metal Coating Lines (MCL) at our Springhill plant, you will ensure that equipment is maintained to the highest standards to meet our objectives for safety, quality, and reliability. You will apply your mechanical fitting skills and experience to complete both complex and routine maintenance tasks, with a focus on improving our equipment performance and reliability by understanding plant and equipment condition and then implementing corrective actions to restore as required.

What Will You Do?

In this key role, that impacts the safety of our people as well as the quality and reliability of our equipment and products, you will be: 

  • utilising your trade skills to carry out the total maintenance function on our MCL plant 
  • inspecting quality critical equipment and fault finding 
  • resolving issues and fixing any non-conformances 
  • seeking ways to continuously improve our maintenance strategies  

More About You

You will have a strong technical background with the ability to work effectively and flexibly in a team environment. You will also have:

  • mechanical trade qualifications
  • a commitment to your own safety and wellbeing and care for others 
  • ability to fault-find mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic equipment and their interaction with process line automation 
  • experience working both independently and as part of a manufacturing team 
  • strong attention to detail with the ability to resolve issues effectively and efficiently
