We currently have a position available for a Grooming Salon Manager to work in Petbarn in Richmond. You must be able to clip and scissor across all breeds unassisted.

Job Description

Health, Safety and Wellbeing

  • Actively implement OH&S requirements
  • Ensure salon team members are working in a safe manner and address any non-compliance
  • Take reasonable care for own health and safety while at work and take reasonable care that acts or omissions do not adversely affect the health and safety of team, customers and/or their pets
  • Report and escalate any hazards or potential hazards to the Store Manager
  • Complete Incident reports


Customer Service

  • Deliver a high standard of customer service and service excellence
  • Make every effort to understand the features and benefits of products and services offered by Petbarn and be able to explain them clearly to customers
  • Ensure a prompt response to bookings/enquiries made by phone
  • Ensure customer complaints are dealt with in a professional, empathetic, helpful and expedient manner
  • Inform the Store Manager and Area Manager of more serious customer complaints and assist in resolving
  • Lead the salon team in delivering promotional activities and local marketing campaigns
  • Actively encourage rebooking and promotion of our services


Operational Management

  • Opening and closing of the salon
  • Rostering salon team members in consultation with the Store Manager
  • Manage and drive the financial performance of the salon in line with targets and objectives
  • Managing salon team members performance with assistance from the Store Manager as required.
  • Take bookings and manage the CHS Vet booking system
  • Ensuring online booking settings are appropriate to the level and skill of the team rostered
  • Quoting, Invoicing and maintaining customer records
  • Ordering of consumables
  • Maintenance and care of equipment within the salon
  • Ensuring equipment is only used for its designed and intended purpose in line with SOP’s
  • Reviewing reports and results and implementing plans to address poor performance


Training and Knowledge

  • Have a thorough knowledge of company products, prices and services, including those we sell on the retail floor
  • Complete all training assigned including ‘The Cage’ assigned training within timeframes agreed with Store Manager
  • Provide training and coaching to salon team members

General Housekeeping

  • Maintain a high standard of housekeeping
  • Implement hygiene practices and cleaning procedures as per company policy

Grooming Services

    • Complete all grooming services on offer
    • Ensure all grooms completed within the salon are of high quality and the correct techniques have been applied relative to the breed type and service type
    • Complete consultations to understand the wants, needs and desires of the customer and discuss the right grooming solution for the dog including additional treatments
    • Apply product and breed knowledge to achieve the best outcomes for the customer
    • Modify grooming techniques to accommodate breed type, age or medical conditions
    • Organise and delegate grooming tasks appropriate to the grooming team
    • Manage time effectively to ensure all pets are groomed to the customer’s specifications by the pickup time


    Animal Care

    • Responsible for the safety and wellbeing of all pets within the salon
    • Comply with the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act and Code of Practice
    • Clean and disinfect animal enclosures and excretions
    • Monitor the behaviour for animals in the salon and dealing with difficult/aggressive dogs
    • Communicate any concerns or potential health risks identified during the grooming process to the customer 


    General

    • Carry out other duties as directed by the Store Manager, Area Manager or Support Office
    • Ensure all relevant policies and procedures are implemented successfully and adhered to
    • Action emails and daily communications.
    • Assist with recruitment and trials
    • Foster a culture of teamwork

    Qualifications

    • At least 1 years’ experience in grooming and clipping across all breeds of dogs in a salon environment
    • Strong customer service approach with excellent handling skills
    • Dog breed knowledge
    • Confident and personable nature that will allow you to contribute to an already high growth business

    As part of this process you will be asked to complete a two-hour grooming trial and a police check.

    Salary for the role ranges between $72,000 and $74,000 plus super. Sponsorship is available for the right candidate.
