Murdoch University is home to the only Veterinary School in Western Australia and through The Animal Hospital at Murdoch University provides both a state-of-the art specialist-referral hospital that is home to leaders within the field of Veterinary Medicine as well as offering exceptional clinical hands-on experience for its students and education of the next generation of Veterinarians.  

At The Animal Hospital At Murdoch University (TAHMU) we practice the highest professional and clinical standards of care in an environment founded in genuine care and compassion. The ECC service includes 2 specialists, 2 registrars, 4 residents, 1 specialty trainee and 7 permanent ECC vets who collaborate with a wonderful nursing team. Our Assistant Veterinarian opportunity aims to develop your clinical and non-clinical competencies through a structured 12-month program that offers un unparalleled advantage to any Recent Graduate wishing to pursue a career in ECC.

The Role

The ECC section within TAHMU is a team of exceptional veterinary professionals dedicated to being the benchmark for patient and client standards of care in the field of ECC in Perth, Western Australia, and Australia. Our Assistant Veterinarian position offers a new and industry-leading program to provide foundational knowledge and competencies including consultation, diagnostic investigation, treatment and basic surgical skills specific to the field of Emergency and Critical Care. Your progression and development of these competencies will be supervised and supported by specifically appointed ECC Veterinary Leaders over a 12 month duration with increasing case responsibility. To complement your clinical training you will also undertake complementary study and assessment including the 12 month Improve International ECC Accelerate program, internal CPD, and Fear Free accreditation as well as having access to Journal Club and Multidisciplinary rounds to augment your learning opportunities.

This position would be ideal for someone new or recently graduated who wants to practice the highest standards of care in emergency medicine or as preparation for a specialty trainee or residency program.
