About the Role

A unique and exciting opportunity exists for a highly motivated, dynamic Grade 4 Physiotherapist to lead and innovate our Advanced Practice Physiotherapy services. Reporting to the Physiotherapy Manager this position will lead the Advanced Practice Physiotherapy Stream, supported by Grade 4 and 3 senior clinicians, to drive the provision of high-quality Physiotherapy services to SVHM patients. The successful candidate will possess expert clinical knowledge and robust peer networks, as well as strong stakeholder engagement capabilities, sound communication skills and a passionate commitment to the development of self and others.

The Grade 4 Physiotherapy Team Leader is responsible for fostering clinical excellence in physiotherapy service provision at St Vincent’s Health. They will be responsible for the clinical and strategic leadership of the Advanced Practice Physiotherapy services, ensuring the highest quality of clinical service provision across the team, as well as managing an individual clinical caseload and providing high quality advanced scope physiotherapy consultation services. In conjunction with the Physiotherapy manager, they will provide operational leadership and management for the Physiotherapy Advanced scope streams. They will oversee the provision of high-quality clinical education for both staff and students and foster a culture of research excellence and continuous improvement.

Classifications for this position will range from Physiotherapist Grade 4 VB24 - VB27 ($123,609 - $136,203 per annum).

Your contribution

  • Ensure the highest standard of Physiotherapy clinical service provision is upheld through regular review and update of clinical service provision aligned to current best evidence.

  • Oversee (and directly provide) delivery of high quality, effective clinical supervision for Physiotherapy team members and students.

  • Determine and implement strategic vision for Advanced Practice Physiotherapy team

  • Implement effective leadership of change management initiatives

  • Appropriately represent Physiotherapy and/or Allied Health within the organisation at relevant meetings and forums and external to the organisation

  • Coordinate research and program evaluation activity within the Advanced Practice team in conjunction with the Physiotherapy Manager and Physiotherapy Department Research Co-ordinator.

Skills and Experience

  • Minimum of 10 years clinical experience

  • Completion of relevant Clinical Post Graduate qualification, at master's level or above.

  • Knowledge of Physiotherapy management and clinical service provision in an acute health care setting

  • Acknowledged by their professional peers as a clinical expert and has broad and relevant clinical experience in their area of expertise

  • Demonstrated effective leadership, management and networking skills

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate across teams and the wider organisation

  • Extensive experience in the supervision and professional development of physiotherapists, students and support staff.

The SVHM Physiotherapy team are passionate about nurturing a culture of staff support and development to facilitate the highest quality clinical service provision, and foster excellence in research, education and evidence based care.  Delivering services across a spectrum of acute, sub-acute and outpatient services SVHM Physiotherapy work closely with inter-professional teams to provide assessment, treatment and a range of therapeutic services to optimise patient care and maximise function.
