About the team
Alfred Health’s Physiotherapy Department provides acute physiotherapy services to the patients of The Alfred and Sandringham Hospital and subacute physiotherapy services to Caulfield Hospital. The Department is managed by a Physiotherapy Manager and Deputy Physiotherapy Manager, while a Physiotherapy Operations Lead provides operational support to the manager team, and broader department.
The acute physiotherapy service is organised into five functional streams, namely: Intensive Care, Musculoskeletal, Respiratory, PAN (Progressive Illness, Aged Care and Neurosciences), and Sandringham. The first four streams are located at The Alfred site, with the fifth and latter stream based at the Sandringham site. The physiotherapy service provides acute clinical services and expertise in the following areas: intensive care, cardiothoracic surgery, general surgery, orthopaedics, trauma, burns, lung transplantation, cystic fibrosis, pulmonary rehabilitation, neurology and neurosurgery, infectious diseases, haematology / oncology, general medicine, haemophilia and emergency.
About the role
The Grade 4 Physiotherapist – Quality Improvement, is a key member of the Physiotherapy senior leadership team.
The Grade 4 Physiotherapist – Quality Improvement actively contributes to the ongoing development of the Physiotherapy department and its staff, through its role in planning and executing quality improvement initiatives. The role works in close collaboration with the Physiotherapy Manager, Deputy Manager, and Operations Lead to determine priority departmental projects, and their role in developing, supporting and/or completing them. A key initiative for this role within the 12 month position will be to facilitate a review of the Physiotherapy Department structure, in close collaboration with Physiotherapy Managers, Allied Health Director(s) and other key stakeholders - a series of recommendations will be a key deliverable of this work.
This role is also responsible for the co-ordination and oversight of quality improvement activities across the Physiotherapy department by:
