About Barwon Health
Barwon Health is one of the largest and most comprehensive regional health services in Australia, providing care at all stages of life and circumstance. Services available through Barwon Health cover the full spectrum from primary care, community services, aged care, rehabilitation, mental health, emergency and acute care. We serve more than 500,000 people through the efforts of more than 9000 staff and volunteers across more than 20 sites. Barwon Health is committed to developing a vibrant culture of education, training and research that advances health and wellbeing for all.

About the facility
Our major sites include University Hospital Geelong in Geelong’s CBD, the McKellar Centre precinct in North Geelong, Barwon Health North in Norlane, and residential aged care facilities spanning the region. Comprehensive mental health, community health and dental services are delivered through various programs across the Barwon South West Region, including Torquay and Colac.

Barwon Health is supported by an amazing group of volunteers and we are always keen to expand our programs and services.  Our Volunteer Programs enhance the healthcare experience of our consumers and their families through providing direct social, emotional and recreational support.

About the Role

Volunteers offer a friendly face and genuine support and are valued members of our team.  We have volunteers assisting in many different settings.  There are roles in a hospital setting such as Concierge and Cancer Services.

Other roles are on the road assisting our Volunteer Patient Transport Program.  Other opportunities exist in areas such as Palliative Care and our Aged Care Programs where volunteers can help with woodwork, art, craft, games, gardening, companionship, sharing common interests such as reading, language.

We offer a comprehensive volunteer training program and induction.  On-boarding requirements and training modules are relevant to the role you wish to pursue and our Volunteer Coordinators are available to help you through each step of the process.

We ask that volunteers are available to commit to joining a program for 12 months and most roles will involve a weekly shift of four to six hours.
