The role of Estate and Livestock Manager requires an experienced and high performing professional with a passion for livestock and the agricultural industry, with proven success operating primary production businesses, specialising in cattle livestock farming, land management, and coordinating property maintenance programs and contractors.

Leveraging extensive industry experience, the role delivers sustainable performance and compliance of our cattle livestock farming business and land estate management practices in accordance with all relevant authority legislation and regulations. Land holdings extend across multiple states along eastern Australia, travel is an essential requirement.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

  • Agricultural land estate management, security, safety, bio-security, stocking rates, rotation, budget management & performance and operation of primary production enterprise
  • Cattle livestock purchasing, selling, profitability, registration, transport, management and coordination of husbandry services to meet animal health and welfare standards
  • Compliance and reporting for relevant authority legislation and regulations based on relevant local, state, territory, federal government requirements
  • Risk management and mitigation through proactive identification and action to ensure safety of people, animals, assets and sustainability of operations
  • Management and production of all necessary records and information for the purposes of maintaining appropriate insurance cover for Maas Pastoral Services
  • Speed of underutilized land estate holdings activated with sustainable and efficiently managed primary production operations
  • Management and monitoring of water access, availability, infrastructure, leasing and licensing compliance with relevant authorities requirements
  • Weed and pest management, monitoring and contractor engagement for all necessary action to ensure compliance with relevant authorities requirements
  • Programs and works preparation, scoping, tendering, quoting, contractor engagement, compliance, reporting and performance management
  • Pasture performance, cropping management, contractor engagement and compliance with all legislation, regulations and reporting requirements
  • Regular and planned travel for routine land estate inspections to monitor safety, security, performance and compliance standards
  • Third party lease, license or agistment agreements, coordinated with legal advice, governance, and accurate livestock registration and transport records management
  • Adjoining landholder engagement and relationship management relevant to primary production operations and activities

Essential Requirements

  • Experienced agricultural professional with proven success operating primary production business/s, specialising in cattle livestock farming
  • +7yrs industry experience in a comparable management role will be highly regarded, but not essential
  • Experienced preparation and management of budgets, with sound financial reporting literacy that supports decision making and performance monitoring
  • Capable in the use of Microsoft 365 suite of applications
  • Strong communication, underpinned by excellence in negotiation and interpersonal skills to grow networks and relationships
  • Experienced understanding and capability of researching, analysing, forecasting and reporting on industry, market and economic conditions that influence operations
  • Professionally presented, comfortable and confident in a team or group presentation setting, and able to always maintain high professional standards
  • Creative ‘out of the box’ mind-set, with an ability to think laterally and find opportunities and efficiencies
  • Productive and efficient multi-tasker, with proactive and flexible time management skills
