Early Childhood Teacher

Lady Gowrie is seeking an Early Childhood Teacher for our Pedder Long Day Care Service. Lady Gowrie is a non-for-profit community-based organisation providing Education and Care to children from birth to 12 years of age.

Role: Early Childhood Teacher

Locations: Pedder, Launceston

Employment Type: Part-time, 4 days per week, 8 hours per day (Mon/Tues/Wed/Fri)

ABOUT THE ROLE

As Early Childhood Teacher you will work closely with our Education and Care Practitioners demonstrating and mentoring in Pedagogy & Practice and work in ratio.

The Pedder Long Day Care Service is licenced for 50 children each day supported by a team of 15 Education and Care Practitioners & an Educational Leader working with our Northern Services supporting Pedagogy and Practice.

As an Early Childhood Teacher, you will:

  • Work closely with our educators and develop programs tailored to meet the individual needs of each child.
  • Ensure compliance as a mandated reporter in accordance with the services Child Protection policy and procedures.
  • Identifying and responding to children at risk
  • Promote positive, comforting, and nurturing relationships with children.
  • Be proactive in ensuring currency in best early childhood practice.
  • Providing experiences to support children’s play and learning.
  • Listening to children, including interpreting words and actions to determine a child's individual needs.
  • Using storytelling, drama, music and discussion to develop language and vocabulary.

ABOUT YOU

  • Bachelor’s degree in early childhood education, or equivalent (ACECQA approved)
  • A sound understanding and knowledge of the National Quality Framework
  • Ability to lead and work collaboratively and cooperatively in a team environment.
  • Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills
  • Accredited Child Protection Training
  • Current anaphylaxis and emergency asthma management training.
  • Current Working with Vulnerable People Registration for an Employee (Child Related Activity)
  • A recent Police Check
