How will I help?

Westpac Institutional Bank (WIB) manages the financial needs of corporate, institutional and government clients that are based, or have interests in, Australia and New Zealand. 

The WIB Digital Team is responsible for enabling the WIB Digital Strategy by delivering new digital capability to our relationship managed customers and internal facing teams.

The DataX Analytics team supports our customers to solve real world problems with next generation data products.

As a Manager, Client Analytics, you are responsible for the data analytics services provided across the customer lifecycle, including pre-sales, onboarding, delivery management, retention and strategic consulting.

In addition, by working directly with clients, the Manager, Client Analytics will play a key role in client-driven product ideation and design, thereby contributing to continuous innovation and product-market fit.

Accountabilities:

  • Design solutions and programs of work to build products that deliver business insights and optimise outcomes for customers
  • Maximise the value of a customer engagement via advanced analytics capability and a deep understanding of the client use cases.
  • Feed back learnings from client engagements to drive product ideation and product-market fit.
  • Continuously strive to enhance the customer experience, whether that’s by the cadence and format of direct engagements, the simplicity of the data feeds, or the usability of the interactive visualisations.
  • Uphold the highest data integrity standards, including all aspects of data governance (e.g. privacy).
  • Contribute to successful sales engagements with prospective by supporting in the articulatation of client use cases for the Westpac DataX proposition for client pitch meetings.
  • Proactively identify any data consistency or integrity concerns and work with the Head of Analytics to resolve.
  • Contribute to quality uplift and the identification of best practice methodologies across documentation, underlying codebase, QA processes and the delivery of quality output to customers.
  • Support operational efficiency by finding opportunities to enhance and optimise the manufacturing process to ensure scalability and automation.
  • Effectively prioritise and manage competing priorities in an organised and structured manner.

What do I need?

Education

Graduate or post-graduate qualifications in computer science or a related technical field.

Experience (Required)

  • 3+ years experience in the data domain.
  • Leading solution development within a data and analytics context.
  • Applying a passion for data-driven transformation generating strong financial returns and creating competitive advantage for customers. 
  • Working closely with team members within a dynamic environment. 
  • Applying a natural curiosity and learning on the job. 
  • Data sourcing, ETL, data pipeline processes (including from enterprise data warehouses).
  • Management of large datasets to ensure integrity, quality, performance and accuracy of data for analysis.
  • Performing data analysis for use in end-products 
  • Maintaining existing analytical solutions
  • Working within agile environments and associated software and tools (e.g. Confluence, JIRA and BitBucket)
  • Creating quality documentation 
  • Performance of precise QA checks 

 

Experience (Highly regarded)

  • Financial services experience (including banking and payments related data).
  • Big Data Platform (Hortonworks, DataIku, Waterline).
  • Cloud Data Platform implementations in Azure & Azure certifications.
  • Development, design and build of analytical solutions and models – including statistical modelling, machine learning methods and complex data manipulation.
  • Experience developing data products for external client consumption.
  • Handling and de-identification of PII and sensitive data.
  • Geospatial analytics & visualisation development.
  • Provision of additional support – gathering user requirements, scope definition, UAT testing.

 

Technical Skills (Required)

  • Programming languages: SQL, Python and/or R (Python preferred). 
  • Experience with use of complex SQL joins and SQL tuning.
  • Databases: such as Teradata, HIVE SQL, other RDBMS systems.
  • Visualisation and BI tools: Tableau, PowerBI.
  • Advanced Excel skills.

 

Technical Skills (Highly regarded)

  • Programming languages: R, Spark, Spark SQL, Scala
  • Additional Azure Cloud Services: Databricks, Synapse, Azure ML, Event Hubs, Stream Analytics
  • Geospatial technologies: ESRI, MapInfo, Experian, Precisely.
