The Department

We are looking for passionate individuals skilled in emergency or urgent care education to fill the role of Clinical Nurse Educator (CNE) for a large nursing education program at the Alfred Emergency Academic Centre (AEAC).

The program, funded by the Victorian Department of Health, launched in 2020 and delivers training and development opportunities to nurses working in urgent care settings in rural and remote Victoria.  We’re looking for multiple CNEs with experience in delivering education both through workshops, online learning and bedside teaching to join with an incredible established team of Nurse Educators to deliver the program and support learners.

The Role

  • The Program requires multiple Clinical Nurse Educators to contribute, with particular value placed on applications from nurses working in rural or remote areas.
  • Program staff are not required to reside in Melbourne, remote working will be the norm, however occasional travel to Melbourne would be expected.
  • FTE available is flexible with a minimum of 0.6.
  • There are several portfolios of work available including:
    • Workshop lead
    • Bedside teaching lead
    • Team lead
    • Online learning & tutorial lead
    • Research & reporting lead
  • The Clinical Nurse Educators will work as a cohesive, collaborative, and high-performing team to deliver a world-class, multi-modal education resources and systems.
  • Working under the broad direction of the Program Manager, these roles will be well supported to ensure the deliverables of the project are met as per the agreement with the Department of Health.

Key Responsibilities

  • Delivering established face-to-face workshops across Victoria
  • Providing bedside teaching in Urgent Care Centres
  • Portfolio responsibility for an area of the program
  • Building relationships with UCC leadership and education teams
  • New content development (online, workshops and other tools)
  • Supporting learners through the core online modules
  • Content review, program reporting and some general admin

Qualifications and Experience Required

We are seeking a candidate with extensive experience in emergency nursing education.

  • Registered as a Registered Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia via AHPRA.
  • A minimum of two years of formal or informal educational delivery experience in emergency or urgent care.
  • Intermediate to advanced information technology proficiency.
  • Ability to travel regularly within the state of Victoria.
  • Driver’s license and own vehicle.

Desirable

  • Previous experience or currently working in a rural or remote health service (with particular value placed on exposure to Urgent Care Centre settings).
  • Experience designing formal educational programs.
  • Holding or working towards Masters of Nursing or Education.
