ABOUT YOUR NEW ROLE:
In this rewarding opportunity you will join the St Vincent’s Private Hospital Melbourne (SVPHM) team as Associate Nurse Unit Manager (ANUM) – Anaesthetics and Post Anaesthetic Care Unit in our Operating Room department at our Kew campus.

St Vincent’s Private Kew campus has 5 theatres covering specialities of Orthopaedics, Plastics and Reconstructive surgery, Oral Surgery (Maxillofacial) and Ophthalmology.

This role will be permanent Full Time working 76 hours per fortnight and will be pivotal in providing direct clinical and administrative leadership to the staff in the Operating Room department.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide clinical leadership and support to nursing staff within the Anaesthetics and PACU departments.
  • Ensure high standards of patient care are maintained at all times following SVPHM Policies and procedures.
  • Assist with the floor coordination and management of staff rostering, patient flow, and resource allocation.
  • Support the Nurse Unit Manager (NUM) in operational management, including quality improvement initiatives and policy implementation.
  • Contribute to budget forecasting and financial management within the department.
  • Mentor and guide junior nursing staff to foster a collaborative and educational environment.


ABOUT YOU

  • Currently registered with the Nurses & Midwifery Board as a Registered Nurse with AHPRA.
  • Sound knowledge of ANZCA, ACORN & NSQHS standards.
  • Current or previous ANUM/Clinical Nurse Specialist experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years Clinical Perioperative in Anaesthetics and PACU speciality.
  • Post-Graduate qualification in Perioperative Nursing (APACU), or working towards.
  • Exceptional communication skills to be able work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team including surgeons, anaesthetist, nurses and allied support staff to ensure best practice and quality patient outcomes.
  • Provide leadership and direction to complement the strategic direction, operational processes, budget and business direction of the unit and hospital.
  • Ability to work under pressure in a dynamic, ever-changing and fast paced environment.
