Accounting and Tax Specialist

What you’ll achieve

As an Accounting and Tax Specialist you will be part of our highly successful Corporate Functions and G&A team to lead the accounting team (in multiple locations and for multiple countries); review and assess performance, build employee capacity, support professional development, and enable employees to optimize their contribution to the department. Working with an extended highly skilled team, you will be making a profound impact throughout the healthcare sector.

You will:

  • Collaborate and instruct the Group Financial Shared Service Center for the timely production of accounting and financial data.
  • Ensure the timely and accurate delivery of the month-end reporting packages and annual financial statements process consolidation purposes.
  • Ensure accurate and timely statutory financial closing of all entities in the region according to local GAAP and comply with the audit process timetable. This includes liaison with external advisors for the preparation of the statutory financial statements.
  • Improve compliance with group accounting policies and processes.
  • Be the lead for technical accounting under IFRS and local GAAP; determining the proper accounting treatment of complex or unusual transactions. This includes review of judgemental areas, impairment test preparation, assess the impact of extraordinary/unusual transactions, if any, etc.
  • Lead direct and indirect TAX compliance in ANZ.

Essential Requirements

  • Degree in Accounting or Finance. Accounting Certifications Required: CA, CPA.
  • Experience in the role or in an audit/tax firm. Prior experience in a major ERP (Dynamics will be a plus).
  • Timely engage with external tax advisors in Australia and New Zealand to:
  • Ensure tax compliance in ANZ and timely lodgment of tax forms;
  • Provide accounting data for interim and year-end tax provision calculation and review of the output.
  • Liaise with HR and external payroll provider to ensure timely submission and lodgement of payroll tax and related payroll tax returns (FBT, etc.)
  • Integrate the new ERP system (MS Dynamics) and ensure the proper use consistently with the Group core model process.
  • Have a clear understanding of the local organization and operate as a business partner of the stakeholders and management to enable strong relationships with all the functions within the organization.
  • Support and coordinate the accounting and finance team in the preparation of data for trend analysis and budget and forecast preparation.
  • Be the main contact for external auditors and take responsibility for ensuring that the audit process is completed in line with the audit timetable.
  • Collaborates with management to develop schedules, procedures, and systems to enable the timely and informative accumulation, adjustment, and reporting of financial data.

Desirable Requirements

  • Analytical and quantitative problem-solving skills.
  • Month End/Quarter End Accounting Close experience.
  • Strong analytical skills, organization, and curiosity to advance the position.
  • Exercises good judgment and is comfortable working under time constraints and with multiple operating constituents.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication in English.
  • Prior work experience in an Information Technology Services Provider or in a Big Four Accounting Firm will be considered a plus, as would-be prior work experience within a group with multinational subsidiaries.
