The purpose of this role is to work closely with all stakeholders providing excellent customer service to promote and market CSD cotton varieties, management packages and cotton research information to the Australian cotton industry, whilst developing high quality relationships. This role is designed to develop graduate agronomist across all facets of the CSD business. 

Specific Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • To observe all work, health and safety, environmental and quality programs, policies and procedures developed to meet the intent of the WHS, Environmental and Quality policies. 
  • Develop processes, techniques, and ideas (activities) to facilitate adaptation and adoption of research in accordance with the CSD Strategic Plan and CSD Extension Operating Plan.  
  • Develop skills in carrying out trials, activities, and programs. Collection of data and producing  publications for various platforms. 
  • Develop skills in liaising with CSD's Agent network and implement tactics to improve cotton sales opportunities, help co-ordinate seed depots, assist manage seed orders and assist debt collection if . 
  • Develop skills preparing in grower information, articles trial result booklets and industry publications. 
  • Attend the Cotton Conference, Trade Show, Mastering Cotton Forums, field days and other industry meetings as . 
  • Develop skills in managing variety, seed quality, agronomic and research results enquiries. 
  • Develop skills in monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of CSD Extension activities as part of a continuous improvement cycle. 
  • Successfully engage with other members of the extension team in packaging and delivery of CSD priority outcomes. 
  • Work closely with industry personnel to coordinate regional activities. 
  • Show empathy to growers and agent network and demonstrate a customer and service focus. 

General areas of development Duties and Responsibilities:  

  • Agronomy Programs (Ambassador, Agronomy and Trials) 
  • Provide support to the CSD Ambassador, Agronomy and B3F Trial programs. 
  • In-crop assessments such as establishment, crop monitoring and plant mapping. 
  • Liaise with growers regarding crop management practices and inputs for trial/s during the season 
  • Assist in the picking and ginning of these trials 
  • Data entry and collation of trial data 
  • Seed Production 
  • Work in a team involved in growing, transporting and, when , processing seed in line with the aims of CSD Ltd’s Seed Increase Programs and the relevant internal and external QA (Seed Certification and other) systems. 
  • This includes assisting in the co-ordination and auditing of seed crops, including cultural and other operations at the following stages of production: In-crop (leaf sampling, crop monitoring and inspections), Picking/Modules/Transport of modules, Ginning/Transport of seed, CSD Farming Support 
          • Provide support and cooperation to the CSD Farming Manager in producing cotton crops as . 
          • Assist with crop monitoring during the season 
          • CSD Plant Pathology 
          • Provide support for in crop assessments during the season 
          • Provide support for data entry and collation of trial data 

          Essential Requirements: 

          • Ability to work as part of a team as well as act on own initiative, work unsupervised, effectively prioritise workload and problem solve delivering outstanding stakeholder service; 
          • A strong safety focus and concern for the health and wellbeing of yourself and your work colleagues; 
          • Strong verbal and written communication skills and competent in the use of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, internet and email; 
          • The ability to prioritise, meet deadlines and deliver information with a high level of accuracy; 
          • Current Driver's License;  
          • Following all Standard Operating Procedures, Safe Work Method Statements, Work Task Procedures and the CSD Employee Code of Conduct;  
          • Emotionally intelligent, confident to liaise with all stakeholders and conflict resolution skills 
          • Demonstrated attention to detail and organisational skills; 
          • Demonstrated understanding of HSE procedures and systems;
          • Demonstrated the application of continuous improvement processes; and 
          • The physical capabilities and mental aptitude to undertake the inherent tasks of the role.  

          Highly Desirable: 

          • Tertiary qualifications in a related field.
